My Summer Class - check out the sneak peek!

Finally!  It's taken me a little longer than I thought to put together my first class in months!  I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, but some days, I'm just not motivated!  I guess after a long day at work, I'm pooped!  I've been working extra hard at my job to catch up after years of horrible attendance and letting my work pile up.  I'm happy to say that I'm pretty caught up for the most part, yay!
Anyway, on to my class!  The class will happen on Saturday, July 20 at 10:00 a.m. at my home.
Here is a sneak peek of the projects that we will be making!  I've planned this class around a beautiful and big stamp called Swallowtail.  We will be making four (4) fun and beautiful cards and 5 tags.  We will be using one of the Chalk Talk framelit dies for the tags that you're gonna just love!  This class will be featuring most of the new "in colors" which is growing on me now that I've used them.

As always, the class kits will be sold on a first come, first served basis by sending me an email.  Being that this is the first class in a long time, I'm not sure how many people want to come, or can come so I will be making 10 kits for now and will add on as I get RSVP's.  The cost of this class remains the same price of $20.00 and to hold your space, you will need to send in your payment to me.  Receiving your payment will also help me cover the cost of the materials since I haven't had a class in ages, I kind of need the help in paying for the supplies!  If you need my mailing address, please request it in your RSVP email since I don't want to post this information on my blog.  As usual, I will serve iced tea, water and brownies.  If you want to bring your own snack, please feel free to do so.  Remember to bring your own tool kit (adhesive of your choice, scissors and reading glasses if you need it, and whatever else you need to do crafting with).
If you are a demonstrator in my downline, the class fee is only $10.00.  This is one perk of being a demonstrator!
If you would like a kit "to go", the cost will be $30.  The cost will include shipping and all of the materials to make the projects, stamped and prepped!
I am looking forward to this class and seeing all of you!  Don't forget to RSVP to save your kit and space!

Swallowtail Butterfly cards

At first when I saw this HUGE butterfly stamp, I thought, no way was I going to buy this.  But I received a beautiful card from my friend and downline, Myra who used this stamp.  I knew that I HAD to get it and did!  I made a bunch of cards and matching envelopes using this stamp.  The photo here doesn't do justice because I stamped the butterfly twice and cut out a portion of it s that it flaps.  I'll try to see if I can get a good photo of it and re-post it so you know what I mean.  I love the fact that stamping in one color works well.  What do you think?
I am planning on making this card at one of my upcoming classes.  Speaking of classes...I'm working on a simple class in July.  If all goes well with my sample, we may be making a mini star book featuring a new stamp set and new in colors!  Are you curious?  The class won't be until July or August, but I will post sneak peeks when my samples are done!

A Simple Sympathy Card

Went to a funeral this past weekend for my Grand Aunt who was 100 years old!  Amazing longevity.  I rushed to make this sympathy card on Friday night because I let buying a card slip by me during the week.  I guess I forgot to buy one because I stayed home sick for a couple of days.  It's been a long time since I've gotten sick - sore throat, migraine type headache, coughing and was starting to lose my voice!  I guess something was telling me to slow down and rest, so I did.  I actually slept most of the first day I was home and I even read a book!  I love to read but it has been YEARS since I was able to sit down and read a book.  It felt really good to lie down and get lost in a book.  I read a book called MENTOR - The Kid & The CEO.  It was a really good motivating book.
Anyway, here is the card I whipped up.  I'm surprised that it turned out pretty good.  Used a retired SU stamp set called Close as a Memory.  It is really a classic stamp set to make Sympathy cards.
I'm working on a couple of projects using some of the new products from the Stampin' Up! brand new catalog!  If you don't have one, and want one, send me an email.  You can also view the catalog online at www.stampinup.net or click on the link on the catalog on my sidebar.  You can also get a list of the supplies used on the samples in the catalog by clicking on the supplies also on my sidebar.
Thanks for stopping by to visit me today.  I am starting to get the hang of posting again.  Bear with me!

A New Home for Shadow - well, almost...

Thanks for the comments on my request to find Shadow a home.  My co-workers grand daughter took him home, but Shadow, being so protective of his new owner, didn't want anyone to get near her, even family.  Needless to say, we are back trying to find a home for him.  We tried the Oahu SPCA,  a shelter that protects homeless animals without putting them down, but they didn't have a kennel for him, so we are back to where we began.  Hopefully, we will find a home for him.  We have faith that something with work out!

Urgent Help! I need help in finding Shadow a good home asap!

Hello Friends!  I am trying to help friends find a good home for "Shadow".  He is a sweet, gentle house dog who is a great companion.  Shadow is about 7 years old.  His owner is very ill and is currently in the hospital but will be moved to a nursing home soon.  The nursing home, of course, does not allow pets.  My friends who are currently taking care of Shadow needs to find a home for him ASAP as the apartment complex that they live in does not allow pets either and they were told that if they continue to keep the dog there, they will be evicted.  If he does not find a home soon, he will be taken to the Humane Society.
This is just too sad.  Shadow is staying on and off in my yard in a little make shift house.  He's okay when people are with him outside, but it's clear that he is not happy when he is left outside.  He's not too happy about being outdoors because he is actually a house dog.  My poor Mochiko would freak out if Shadow came into her house!
If you know of anyone who could give this sweet dog a home, please send me an email ASAP!  I would truly hate to see this dog put down.
Thank you for reading my post tonight!

It's here!!  The 2013 - 2014 Stampin' Up! catalog is now available!  First day to order is Saturday, June 1.   I'm loving all of the new products in this new catty!  I went through it and tagged what caught my eye and the catalog is full of tags!!
Want a free catalog?  Place a $30 order through my SU website http://alohagirl.stampinup.net and I will send a catalog to you! (Please note that this offer is my personal offer and not associated with any offer through Stampin' Up)
I am trying to plan an Open House sometime in early July.  The catalog would already be available to order from, but I'm needing some time to figure out my free projects for this event.  It's been a while since I've had an Open House.  I will announce it here and on my facebook page.

Money Headband for Graduation

Now that graduation is all done, I'm finally going to have time to do some posting!  I know that not all of you are on Facebook and not seeing all of the projects that I've been working on, so I'm going to make a good effort to get back to blogging.
I am posting this sort of tutorial tonight because after I posted this on Instagram and FB, people are asking how to make one!
My son received this money headband from our neighbor "Aunty Lani" and I thought it was a really clever gift for the graduate!
You will need about 40 one dollar bills.  If you can get your hands on some clean crisp bills, it kind of helps.  Thanks to the gals at HSFCU for gathering their best of the dollars today.  You guys are the best!
Step 1: take the dollar and fold it in half like this:
Step 2:  Fold one edge to the center like this:
Step 3:  Fold the other edge to the center to look like this:
Step 4:  Fold the dollar in the center to look like this:
This is the side view after you fold it:
Step 5:  Take the long ends and fold each edge to meet in the middle, it should look like this:
This is what it looks like when you are done.
Step 6:  I folded about 10 dollars and then started to assemble the headband.  Take two of the folded dollars and insert one into the other like this:
If done correctly, it should look like this:
Continue to add the folded dollars til done!  Here's a couple of photos of the third dollar added.

That's it!  To close the headband, save one dollar and skip Step 5.  The dollar will be long.
Insert the dollar into the last dollar like this:
Other views of what it should look like (it was hard to take the photo with one hand and hold the headband!)
 Another view...
To finish it up, tuck the ends into the dollar under the flaps.  It's hard to explain, but you will know what to do when you are actually holding the headband.   The photo below is not the actual size of the headband.  I just closed it so I could take the photo and finish up this mini tutorial.
I would love to hear feedback from you!  Hope you have fun making this headband and thank you for visiting my blog today!
